Carsten Hjorthøj is a research leader and associate professor at the Copenhagen Research Center for Mental Health – CORE, and the University of Copenhagen. His main areas of research include psychotic disorders and dual diagnosis, with a special focus on cannabis. While his research generally looks at negative consequences of cannabis use and misuse, and treatment of cannabis use disorders, his research also looks into potential positive effects of cannabis, both in the general population and in people with psychiatric disorders. Carsten received a grant from the Danish Ministry of Health to evaluate the Danish pilot program with medicinal cannabis.
